From the Chief
"Our Family Protecting Your Family"
Hudson Fire Department has seen many changes over the last 37 years.  There
has been a lot of members come and go with a few of them caring enough to
serve as Chief for the Hudson Volunteer Fire Department.  I am honored to
have been elected into that category.  Felton Lemke was elected our first Chief
back in 1974 with a vision of making Hudson Fire Department one of the finest
Volunteer Fire Departments in the State.  With help from every member of the
Department and the fine Citizens of the Hudson School District, today, I believe Felton would be very proud of your Fire Department.
We have seen many struggles over the years and nothing has come easy.  There
has been a lot of blood, sweat and tears.  We started out converting Army
Trucks into vehicles that were capable of going just about anywhere, from muddy dirt roads to boggy pasture land and even pine thickets and our
firefighters were not afraid to tackle any fire.  The converted Army trucks were
very capable of fighting brush and wood fires but they lacked in the ability to
fight structure fires.  Today we have modern trucks that are capable of spraying
a thousand gallons of water in a couple of minutes.  Along with firefighting
improvements, Hudson Fire Department has been able to establish Medical
First Response in our area.  Our medic's can assist on medical emergency calls
as well as traffic accidents while an ambulance from Lufkin is on the way.
As your Chief, I will continue the legacy of Chief Lemke by always looking ahead and seeing that the Fire Department strives to improve and increase it's service to you, the Citizens of Hudson ISD.  I, as Chief Burton did, feel the need to create a bond among our firefighters in order to retain recruits.  We still provide "Family Nights" two or three times a year for our firefighters and their family.  The families of our firefighters are just as important as firefighters.  Without the support from their family, we could not have such a dedicated group of individuals.  We continue to live by our motto:
