Letter from the Fire Marshal
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the community of Hudson. Over many years these great folks have backed this Department in many ways. Countless times, with their generosity, and active participation, fund raising and political support.

Fire prevention has been a number one goal along with fire suppression. . In 1986 a proactive prevention program was started and maintained.

Each year with the help of several volunteer fire personnel, we work with the children at school teaching Stop, Drop and Roll, Cool a Burn, Crawl low in Smoke,  2 Ways Out., Smoke Detectors ;A Special Show and Tell customized for our area  and a special East Texas Style.

Other Departments have seen our results and started their own which is great.

Before 1986 we were averaging 1 death related to fire a year.  After the program was in force and until now, we have had 1 death related to fire.
That one death was drug related.

Before 1986 we were averaging 5 times more fires than we have now.

Folks, it does make a difference.  Fire prevention saves Time,  Energy and Oh Yes, Money.

Your continued support in working with us is very, very much appreciated.
